La clinique Mauricienne was set up by a donation from the late Sir Edgar Laurent, KMCG, M.D and is governed by an Act of the Legislative Assembly – La Clinique Mauricienne Act No 36 of 1957; through a Board of Trustees which is approved by the government every year.

La Clinique Mauricienne is situated in a quiet green environment surrounded by century old trees. It has 42 beds and is a non-profit institution catering for in and out patients care in almost all general and super specialities; a laboratory and x-ray and echo graphic facilities. Telemedicine facility is also available in collaboration with a multi-speciality hospital in India.
